Easter Sunday

This Easter was full of so many of my favorite things.
Unintentional coordinating church attire
Adorable children
Pretty weather
My family
Good friends
Delicious food
and a special focus on the Savior and his resurrection.

It was the perfect Easter Sunday.

 Accidentally matching. Oops.

Intentionally matching. They just love each other that much.

The pals that came home from Provo with me

Allison is a gem, so much so that my 5 year old cousin may have developed quite the cute little crush on her...

Thanks Mom & Dad for making sure everyone had an Easter basket, treats, plenty of dinner, and a good time. I loved bringing everyone home. It really was a perfect Easter.

A Birthday of Favorites

As I mentioned before, my sweet roommates decided to throw Melissa and I a little combined birthday party Saturday night. The theme was all of our favorite things. They had our favorite treats (the Samoa cupcakes were outrageously good), our favorite snacks (the homemade salsa was to-die-for), our favorite drinks (so much Diet Coke!) our favorite music was playing, our favorite people were there, they even had the guests write down their favorite things about us!

It was fun to share so many of my favorite things, with so many of my favorite people. Mostly though it was fun to share it with Melissa-one of my favorite friends.

Of course we failed miserably at taking pictures, but here are a few we got from the fun night!

Actually this one is my favorite from the night.... it's really our true personalities

Keeping in the theme of favorites, Monday night my roommates and I built a birthday blanket fort to celebrate. It was so fun to have a little slumber party. And then on Tuesday I bid farewell to 22, and welcomed 23!

Hanging out in the blanket fort, reading one of my favorite gifts

My actual birthday involved so many more favorites: my roommates surprised me with Einstein's for breakfast, Ash joined me for bagel lunch/fort hang/Friends watching, my family came and took me to dinner, friends came for dessert, other friends called and text me throughout the day.

Basically it was a perfect day.

All these kind words made my day
Surprise treats at work

Sunday we finished the week of celebrating with the traditional chicken roll up dinner, and dessert with the Childs, some of my very, very favorite people.

Honestly though, and yes I'm about to get cheesy, the very best part was celebrating with my favorite people. I say it in every post here but I am surrounded by the very best kind of people. I didn't need a party, bagels, JT's new CD, Diet Coke or even a blanket fort to have a good day-really all  needed was them. So thanks pals and family-with all of you in my life how could 23 not be the best?

Overheard at Our Super Bown Party

From my cute 4 year old cousin:

Her: Colie, we can't play football.
Me: Why?
Her: Because we are too little. You have to be fat to play football. My dad could play football.

(Later-While watching the game)

Her: Colie is that a girl? (pointing to the TV)
Me: Nope, that is a boy.
Her: Then why does he have long hair? Why does he have long hair AND earings?

(Later-after coming and sitting next to me, way too close to the TV to hear/see Beyonce)

Her (in awe): Wow. She is cooooool.

From my 22 year old cousin after eating hot wings:

"I feel like I just made out with a dragon."

And now you see why there is nowhere else in the world I would have rather watched the game.

Merry Christmas Darling

The big Christmas festivities around here take place on Christmas Eve. That night we go to the Child's for a wonderful dinner, games, and of course a visit from the Wise Men. As always this party was the highlight of Christmas-being surrounded by the people I love most, listening to all the laughter, and seeing the cute children experience the magic of the season.

That night we got back to the house and talked of Christ's life and birth. It was a nice reminder of the reason we celebrate, and I always love that part of Christmas. We then received the annual cozy Christmas pajamas, and got ready for bed. Before falling asleep mom always reads us a festive children's book. This year it was written by one of my very favorite people, President Monson. Even if you already know the story you should each read his new book, The Christmas Train. It was lovely.

Christmas day involved presents, family brunch, and lots of time just hanging out together in our pjs. I love the simplicity of Christmas day in the London house-no fancy dinners, no organized activities really-just hanging out with each other-eating when we feel like it, opening presents when we feel like it, and napping when we feel like it. It truly is the most wonderful day.

My Christmas was full of the things I love most. The Savior, my family, kind words and visits with dear friends, and lots of peace.

I hope yours was full of whatever it is that you love most.

PS: Here is our lovely "model" shot in our PJs. I guess we shouldn't quit our day jobs...

Count Your Blessings

10 Things I'm Terribly Thankful for Today:

10- The ability to walk to school and work. I love being close enough to walk.

9-Michael Bubble's Christmas album.

8-The Childs. I am so lucky to have such an awesome family.

7-A Mom who knows everything. Really though.

6-Friends who meet me half way, literaly, to hang out.

5-My relief society. These girls are so solid. I love going to church with them each week, and learn so much from them.

4-Knowing that no matter what happens I always have someone to call to help me-I have awesome people in my life.

3-Answered prayers. I've had many lately. One of them was answered in the form of an e-mail. I'd been looking for my ID card for awhile, but I hadn't thought to pray about it until today. I knelt and prayed, and only a few hours later I recieved this:

If I care about something, I know he does to.

2-My Roommates. They are the absolute greatest, and have been there for me lately when I've really needed them. I can't thank them enough for being so kind, caring, hilarious, willing to help, fun, and patient. I love these girls.

1-This gem of wisdom from my friend: "I love how God doesn't keep us from suffering. He lets us feel pain. He doesn't take away disappointment. Instead He does something much better. He endures it with us. Holds our hand and loves us through it all. I am so grateful for that."

Wait, Pause... You Did What?

I have a lot of cousins. And I love them all so much. But for some reason, most likely our closeness in age, I've always been especially close the the Child family.

Growing up that was Uncle Chip (a nickname that has stuck with me my entire life), my Aunt Debbie, Jeni, Lisa, Chris, Matt and Zach.

When I was little the older girls had me in awe. I wanted to grow up to be just like them: beautiful, smart, kind. In my eyes they were everything I wanted to grow up to be.

And the boys. Wow did I think they were all cool. They would talk about high school like I always imagined it, and impressed me with how much better they always were at Nintendo games I wasn't even allowed to play. I wanted to be like them too. I wanted to be old enough to light the birthday candles, and win the video games. I always thought those three boys were the coolest boys in the world.

Today the Child family has expanded and grown. The girls got married and have had kids (with another on the way). The boys all graduated and Chris even got married, to Liz. (my favorite, as she is affectionately known)

And as the years have passed we've all become even closer. The girls, including Liz, teach me to always laugh, through their example to be an excellent mother and through their words to enjoy the stage of life I'm at now.

The boys, with Scott and Clayton, all teach me what it means to be a quiet example and strength, despite not always being quiet. Each of them have a kind spirit about them, and I so much desire to have that quality.

Aunt Debbie and Uncle Chip still teach me to worry less, and to be comfortable with the person I am. I always feel loved and accepted with them. They are both so loving to everyone they come in contact with, and I feel privileged to be on the receiving end of that so much.

And the kids, James, Anna, and Ben teach me to love more easily. I light up every time they remember my name, want my help playing a game, or give me hugs goodbye. They love so willingly, and that is something we all need to remember to do.

Tonight I said goodbye to the Child family. We had way too much to eat, played games, laughed at the kids, reminisced about grandma and grandpa, ate dessert, and hugged goodbye. It was just like any of the many other nights we'd done this same thing. It was perfect.

And when the door shut I only shed a few tears.
So, to the child family-know that I love you and that I will miss you each so much. Thanks for your constant love, and acceptance!

(I will see you at Christmastime. And oh we all know how much fun that will be!!!)
