Snapshots of Valentines Day

I love Valentines day, and yesterday was an exceptionally good one. All day long I was overwhelmed with the quality of the people I have in my life. I'm not sure how I am was so blessed to have such kind, loving, genuine friends and such a supportive, thoughtful family. I truly love the good people in my life, and I'm not sure where I would be without each of them.

So-thank you for your friendship, and for making my Valentines day so great!

Here are a few snapshots of our apartment from yesterday. (It may or may not have looked like a Hallmark card exploded at one point or another)
Valentines from my lovely mother
Beautiful flowers from Dad
Sweet roommate Valentines
The flowers above, as well as the cookie and treats below are from my friend (Jenna's boyfriend) Mike.
He is probably the nicest guy I know, what a great friend.

Little love notes
Our apartment is covered in flowers! I think we have 5 vases in the living room. It is so beautiful and makes our house so happy!

I hope you all had a happy, beautiful Valentines day.

What I'm Loving Right Now

Tomorrow is Valentines day. And I thought I'd celebrate today by sharing with you a little list(you know how I love lists) so, here is.....
a little list of what I'm loving:
(What you forgot? Don't worry-Zooey still loves you)

-This underrated song from my girl Adele. It was love at first listen when the album came out. (It is also my favorite one to belt while driving down I-15)

-These love stories from a favorite blogger of mine. She is telling us about 5 great loves of her life, and due to her beautiful writing I've found myself falling in love with them too.

-Diet coke. (duh) and pink nails.

-Ms. Underwood's Grammy gown. Flawless.

-Having all of my roommates back in 231. Not that "N Squared Weekend: Round 1" wasn't a blast-Just that it feels empty without them all around.

-Dancing around the kitchen to rap.

-Pretending that the above sentence didn't doesn't happen.

-My new denim shirt that I finally found. Well to be fair Natalie actually found it for me. And her. Alright we each bought the same shirt.
-Not actually doing my hair.

-My mom's text reviews of the Grammys:

Mom: Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, and Glen Campbell and Paul McCartney... It is the geriatric night at the Grammys
Mom: Adele was awesome!
Mom: Tay Swift was good too!
Mom: Blake & Miranda are so cute!
Mom: Carrie and her voice are so pretty!
Mom: Riannah looks skanky!
Mom: Jennifer Hudson did good too!
Mom: OK NIKKI IS CREEPY! It was C. R. A. P.

(I know.. she is pretty cool)

-This recipe. Trust me-you want to make this now, and eat it while it's hot!

and last but definitely most important...

-The people I'm surrounded by
(wonderful roommates, friends from home, friends who live in Texas or Hawaii, my family, girls that go see the Vow with me, the sweethearts next door, the roommates' boyfriends who inhabit our home, my dear parents, BYU friends, saints who give me rides to/from church, my great boss, people who compliment my hair, my sisters, friends who e-mail from J-Ru, and the awesome people in my ward)

I hope you're life is full of things you love as well!
Happy Valentines Day.

Keeping My Promise

About a year ago when I desperately wanted an iphone I promise myself and the parents that I would use it to take more pictures.

I know-the iphone doesn't deliver the best quality of pictures-but I'm a firm believer in the fact that the best camera is the one you have with you, and you'd be hard pressed to find me without my phone.
So here it is, my everyday life according to my iphone...

The Big 18!

Today is my baby sisters 18th birthday!! She is officially an adult. (making my parents officially old) I can't believe she is 18! Over the last 18 years of having her in our family I've decided that I love her, even if she is not a boy-which is what I was hoping for 18 years ago today. Despite that set back she is still pretty great. My favorite thing about her is how happy she makes people. Whenever I'm around her I can't help but smile and laugh, even at myself! She just has a way like that. I'm so proud of the little adult she has become!

Here is a little love note for her:

Abs,

Happy Birthday! Welcome to the world of adulthood. Don't worry it's not quite as scary as it sounds because you're still allowed to do stuff like drive fast, color, and watch Disney movies-you just have to be prepared to pay for the tickets, crayons and movies yourself!

I think you will be good at this whole grown-up thing though, once you get the hang of it. I'm pretty sure you will be an awesome adult, and I can't wait to see the amazing things you do with your life. Also-this year is going to be an epic one for you. LIVE IT UP!

I love you and your freckled face,

Colie

PS-This is the year of the nose muff. (patent pending) I just know it.

Today

Yesterday was not so great. However after a conversation with a roommate I decided that today was going to be different. And apparently so did the rest of the world. Let me tell you about it:

At work I walked in to find this sweet gift left on my desk by a supervisor in our office. It was too kind-and I kind of love being the owner of fancy pens now!

In Clinical Trails my professor surprised me first by knowing my name and second by letting us write the quiz we have next class period. (awesome)

In Injury and Violence Prevention my professor told us that our upcoming test is open book/open note/open laptop. Because after all "College is really about teaching you where to look things up."
(more awesome)

But wait it only gets better.

While in Banana Republic today this cute lady working there stopped me, and asked if she could give me her card. She explained "I do hair, and you have beautiful hair. I would love to cut it sometime." Needless to say I now love this girl.

Also her name is Chanel. Pretty sure I can trust my hair to any women with a designer name.

There is still more.

I came home to find this present from my visiting teachers. Do they know me well or what?

And to top it all off-I got my entire "To Do" list done today!

Great day right? I was so excited I just had to share!

Paint Your Heart Out

I have a deep desire and a real intent to be creative. However, somewhere between desiring to be creative and actually being creative I lose my will. That probably happens while pinning. Friday though Jenna and I were determined to get creative. So we picked up some brushes, paint and canvas, made some crystal light, put on painting clothes and turned on Sleepless in Seattle.

And this is what resulted:

My three canvases. Canvesi? Who cares-the creative type don't worry about spelling
Jenna and I each did three canvases and I have to say it was one of our greatest ideas yet. Now I know they may not be museum quality works of art, but for our first time I'd say they show great promise.

Lets get real here-mostly we were just excited to actually do something creative.

Pretty sure we deserve a large diet coke for that :)
